The Devil’s Venom.
How to resist the seductive words of the adversary.
Do not Underestimate Human Fallibility.
God created us in his image, but sin has made us imperfect and subject to temptation. God also gave us the capacity for reason, and it’s through this that we can resist the devil’s words, for the words of the devil are poison. But the Holy Spirt can protect us from his wicked words.
Trust in God
Fear and anger are two powerful and seductive emotions, and the devil knows how to manipulate these emotions in order to get us to engage in sin and even violence. But whether you are a Christian or even a Stoic, or both, God gives us the tools to resist being seduced by these emotions.
First, let go of what you cannot control, for that thing is up to God and not us. Satan repeatedly tries to make us carry that which is not ours to have. Instead, we must pray to God for the wisdom to know what is not up to us, and for the virtue to handle what is up to us.
Whenever a headline or any words from any man strongly evokes our emotions of fear or anger, we must take a step back and instead retreat into the ways of God and his virtues. Instead of praying for evil to not happen, we must pray for the courage to not fall to evil. Instead of praying to not be tempted, we must have the temperance and self-control to resist temptation. Instead of give into our emotions and following idols and false prophets blindly, we should instead seek the wisdom to know what is true from that which is not. Instead of giving into our carnal desires to hurt others, we must pray for the will to treat others with fairness, no matter who they are.
For those who resist the toxic words of the devil and instead choose the Holy Spirit will be given the fruits that God has promised us in Galatians 5:22-23:
“(22) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, (23) gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”
